“Deadwood Dick, or The Game of Gold!” at Barnstable Comedy Club
3171 Rte. 6A in Barnstable Village
There's Gold in Them Thar Hills!
The Barnstable Comedy Club is proud to present DEADWOOD DICK, or The Game of Gold! by Tom Taggart (Based on the Dime Novels of Edward L. Wheeler). John Watters directs this rootin' tootin' Western melodrama which opens on Thursday, May 9 at 8:00pm and continues through May 26 with performances on Friday and Saturday at 8:00pm and Sunday matinees at 2:30 pm. Tickets are $18 / $16 for seniors 62+ and students and may be reserved by calling the box office at 508-362-6333.
Deadwood Dick, or the Game of Gold! is about a Robin Hood of the Black Hills, with heroes, villains, ladies in distress, saloon girls, cow hands and miners. The story takes place in the Old West of the 1880s and follows the adventures of the conniving villain, Back‘n Red, and stalwart heroes, Ned Harris and Wild Bill Hickok. Calamity Jane’s Mantrap Saloon is filled with good old-fashioned western accoutrements — saloon girls, grizzled cowboys and outlaws. Comedy, drama and mayhem ensue, with lively piano honky-tonk accompaniment, bar room brawls and the obligatory surprise ending.

Belly Dancing is good for:
PHYSICAL HEALTH: Cardiovascular workout! Muscle lengthening! Toned abdominals!

flexibility. The best part of dancing is it works for young and old alike. It
is low impact and easy on the joints.
SPIRITUALITY: Dancing is an exercise that provides deep relaxation for the mind
and body, placing you in the right state of mind to explore your spirituality
and place in this world.
FUN: Studying a new art form is always interesting but shaking your hips and
learning finger cymbal technique is nothing short of sheer fun! It may be some
time before you seriously increase your skill level. But, rest assured, your
first few lessons will be filled with laughter.
…AND SO MUCH MORE! You'll have the time of your life while doing your body
good.

NMLC’s Feet, Fins & Flippers 5K
Buzzards Bay Village Park

“We were all impacted by what happened at the Boston Marathon,” stated National Marine Life Center volunteer Heidi Sanders. “As a runner, it is important to me to do what I can to help.”
The Buzzards Bay race has been going on for the past six years, and the National Marine Life Center has been the beneficiary and organizer for the past three. This year, the event will be Sunday, May 26, 2013 at 9 am. Pre-Registration is available on-line at www.nmlc.org or in person at 120 Main Street, Buzzards Bay. Runners may also register at the race.
“The Feet, Fins & Flippers 5K is a wonderful community event,” said Kathy Zagzebski, the center’s president and executive director. “Participants range from seasoned runners working to better their times to novice runners and walkers motivated by the cause to try their first 5K. It’s heartening to see so many people coming together and using their feet to help our finned and flippered friends!”
The race begins at the Buzzards Bay Village Park, at the west end of Main Street next to the train station. The flat, scenic course travels down and back along the beautiful Cape Cod Canal. Ample parking is available. The race will be timed and medals will be awarded to male and female runners in each of six age groups: Neonate (12 & under), Pup (19 and under), Yearling (20-29), Juvenile (30-39), Sub-Adult (40-49), Adult (50-59), and Senior (60+). Trophies will be awarded to overall male and female winners. A separate kids fun run will be held in the park.
The National Marine Life Center is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to rehabilitate stranded marine mammals and sea turtles in order to advance science and education in marine wildlife health and conservation.
