"A Comedy about an Island Permit Board"
Seasons First Showing to the Public Yarmouth Cultural Center 307 Main Street South Yarmouth, MA 508.394.7100 Welcome to Massapermit! An island paradise where the coconuts reside in both the trees and in the homes. But be careful if you want to build there—the board members may be lovably loony, but their rules are even loonier. You’ll need to be extra crafty and persuasive if you want to get a permit from this group of locals. Their idea of a welcome mat is a big red “Denied” stamp! They’ll do just about anything to preserve their quaint little haven as well as do anything to preserve their own self-interests. Do they truly love their island? Or are they up to something more devious? Tune in and find out the lengths they’ll go through to make sure you don’t get passed them. Watch them! Laugh at them! But be careful—don’t even think about getting approved by them!

A Touch of Romance
A legendary Russian composer and pianist who emigrated to America in 1917, Rachmaninoff wore his heart on his sleeve with unabashed passion., Rachmaninoff’s Vocalise, a song written to be sung without words, garnered its popularity based entirely on its beautiful lyrical melodies and a lush romantic sound. Like a beautifully choreographed ballet, brilliant piano passages and percussion in the Piano Concerto No. 2 are counterbalanced by a longing, romantic theme that ultimately is set ablaze in a stirring display of pianistic fireworks performed by Van Cliburn Gold Medalist winner, Jon Nakamatsu. Reflecting his Russian Romantic predecessors, Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 emanates an unending and gloriously rich flow of melodies that are collectively summed up in a grand and sweeping finale.
